I know that I constantly say that I’m not going to buy anymore books, but again I couldn’t help myself. There was an online promotion from my local bookstore chain and well you know me…I just had to get something. Anyways I got myself some books. I’m sorry for the low quality pictures! I really should start using my camera one of these days…
I adored Tuesdays with Morrie when I read it and I still go back to some of the quotes from time to time. Interestingly one of my friend’s on goodreads postied this quote from the book “
Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. an alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out
I think it’s such a beautiful quote and its so relevant to the society we live in today. Anyways I can’t wait to read this book. Have any of you read it?
Weird Things Customers Say In Bookstores by Jen Campbell
I already read this one last month in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it! It was hilarious and I can’t wait till the sequel comes out this year I believe. Anyways I encourage everyone to pick up this book at some point. It’s well worth a read.
The Ayatollah’s Democracy: An Iranian Challenge by Hooman Majd
I read Hooman Majd’s other book The Ayatollah Begs to Differ: The Paradox of Modern Iran and I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot about Iran that I didn’t know prior to reading the book. I think Majd is also a fantastic writer and I wanted to pick up his other book because the words “Democracy” and “Iran” aren’t necessarily seen to go hand in hand these days. Anyways I do hope this book is just as informative, interesting and has Majd’s signature writing style.
Have a Great Weekend Everyone!
Happy Reading!
Cheers,
Savindi
